A Single Family Tradition With Loads of Fun

I'd love to sit and focus on a single family tradition, but my family has so many and they're all such special memories, I'll try to share the main ones with you!

Every Christmas and New Year my family has a massive gathering, everyone is invited and everyone is designated a certain food to bring. Every year it seems to be getting bigger as the family grows, and it's always a fun time to bring out the old photos and reminisce, listening to the stories our grandparents tell us, or even stories their grandparents told them! We have family scrapbooks of this event from almost 40 years ago, and the memories go back a lot further I can assure you!

Another classic family tradition for us is the yearly Easter egg hunt, indoors or out, it's always been great fun, and been recorded on camera whenever possible, leaving some great memories to be relived! This no doubt will be passed onto my children, as it's a great way to spend some fun time with your family. My family have a great camping tradition, this one is every 3 years but it still happens without fail, rain or shine, my family will pitch their tents, or more recently, pull out their caravans, and off we'll go in a long procession to a camping ground, where a long weekends' worth of fun ensues!

Building a fire for toasting marshmallows, or telling ghost stories to the younger family members, it's always a new memory! These weekends also host our 'Family Olympics', a chance for our more athletic family members to show each other what they're made of, and the less athletic to give everyone else a good laugh, one of the main benefits of a closely knit family, being able to joke with everyone and it be completely harmless.

I think it's always good to keep a family close, hence why I will never let my main family traditions slip away, it's something every family should have and never give up. A close-knit family can survive anything!
