Yes, my expectations fell down the rabbit hole when I got married. Initially it was truly wonderful but after a year or two the rot seem to set in.
We took each other for granted and the routine of married life became a chore. Arguments crept in about silly things followed by shouting matches to see who could outdo the other. Really silly stuff.
Then magically it changed as we made an agreement to bring love and humor into our marriage—so now, instead of fighting, we smile and laugh and after-wards something does come up we can really laugh about.
I think someone should put up a web page about this. PS: My husband is really wonderful.
