Ballet coloring pages for young dancers
We know Degas, the French impressionist painter, never had ballet coloring pages to assist him but he did color-in paintings from his own outline drawings. He did some wonderful paintings of ballet dancers. These outline images are more of the classical styles of ballet dancing although I may add a few cartoon ballet dancers just for fun of it. Perhaps you are a ballet dancer or an aspiring one that brought you to this page? Ballet as you know began over 500 years ago in the courts of France. It is said, ballet originated from fencing which can be graceful like ballet but somehow I can’t see much of a connection.
I love watching ballet dancing but I prefer to create some of these difficult ballet movements in pen and ink for you to color in. Most of these images are drawn with the model in her traditional leotard or tights; in the good old days they used to wear corsets—quite difficult to perform some of those flying-through-the-air movements wearing a corset eh? Wigs and heavy makeup was also used right up until mid 20th century and being under those powerful spotlights, it probably raised quite a sweat. Then Rudolf Nureyev came along and changed ballet forever as he was one of the greatest male performers ever. No coloring pages for him. And you know what? If you were not a celebrity or had class, he did not want to know you. That leaves me out!

All of these ballet coloring pages are of younger girls and women. When a dancer gets a bit older, she or he is discarded and takes up teaching the art of ballet. It is pretty much the same in sport or other physical activities. When you reach a certain age you become “past it” so what are your options then? GBS said, “Those that can, do. And those that can’t, teach. I guess there is some truth in that. You know, I am still teaching so I guess I am “past it” too! Watch this YouTube ballet spoof here...it is well choreographed and funny. Click Here For Spoof Then have a peek at some of these ballet coloring pages I’ve put together for you. To print them, just click on the image which will open in a new window. Then click Ctrl+P and it should go to your printer. Have loads of fun coloring these dancers!
