Kids Club to earn rewards

by Margie

I have a son who is going into the third grade. I know that he and his friends love to create their own virtual characters and have them complete tasks to earn points or rewards of some sort.

I think they would be very interested in an internet club that allowed them to create a character and work together with other characters to accomplish different tasks. I also think he would like to be able to showcase his character or characters and customize them. He doesn't seem very interested in having to type words to communicate online so somehow it would have to be built into the club.

I personally think it would be fun to connect books and computers by having an online "Battle of the Books" club. Kids could log in and answer questions about different books to earn points. They would compete with anyone else in their grade or age group to win. It could also be set up as a book review site as well, so kids could give a rating to books and comment on them.

Overall, I think the one thing that will keep a child interested in coming back to a website is the ability to earn a reward of some sort. I know when I hear my son talking to his friends about computer games, the main things they talk about are what level they are on, and how many points or coins they have earned.

Kids, Don't Get Lazy!
by: Delene

He would HAVE to type words and/or text messages, I do not see the problem unless he/she is lazy and that of course is the parents fault!

All kids nowadays use text messaging even if it is in an abbreviated form that a lot of us oldies do not understand - so it should not be a problem to type a little text, would it?

"The battle of the books" sounds like a great idea where kids can answer questions about books and earn a few bucks and points! Rewards for kids? Yep, they'll certainly come back and visit again.
