One Good Childhood Embarrassment - and a lesson learned.

by Mr Van James
(Montreal CA)

Okay, this is both embarrassing and a call to young people about peer pressure. When I was fourteen, my mom worked away from home and my dad at home. Early during the summer, one of my friends introduced me to some adult literature, and after watching just a little, I wondered if my parents had any. Before this, my parents and I had really good privacy policies, but I broke all of them because I went in their room and started looking around.

Well, I found some, both catalog magazines and some movies, and took them in my room. My friend and I watched them almost every day, when my dad went to get my mom, and anytime they were out. One day, while I was staying overnight somewhere else, my parents found out. It was not only embarrassing to me, but to them as well.

Not only did I lose all my privileges for a long time, but I also lost a great deal of trust that my parents had in me. They also helped me realize that not only had I succumbed to peer pressure, but also now had first hand experiences with addiction. It is a good lesson for others.

So kids, learn a lesson here, don't bow down to peer pressure!
